From
Darbhanga, a centre of Maithili culture and rich
handicrafts, one may visit Valmikinagar, 92 km
away, associated with the memory of Lava and Kusa
of Ramayana fame. Bus routes link up Madhubani
and Valmikinagar. Three rivers of Puranik fame,
the Tamasa, the Gandak and the Narayani- flow
by the side of the temple of Lava and Kusa. No
far away beckon the Himalayas. The sage Valmiki
is said to have composed his Ramayana amidst this
soothing natural environment. A Siva temple of
ancient repute and a Moqbara are also found at
Valmikinagar. The Gandak Project has been implemented
here, in Valmikinagar. |
